Looks like Punta Arenas was one of relatively few places in the southern half of Chile which didn't have its hottest day on record either yesterday or today. Presumably the ropes they sometimes put up along the footpaths for people to hang onto on windy days aren't required at present.

Don't remember getting any wolf whistles; perhaps I'm not attractive enough :-). (My Punta Arenas long run route was out to the west, to the base of the ski slope and back).

It was warm enough even if not a record.

It was interesting on the boat trip if you looked out towards Terra del Fuego it looked like the white cliffs of Dover on the horizon. It was the most incredible mirage I have ever seen (presumably caused by the still conditions and the heat). An American guy on the boat found it hard to believe it wasn't real.

With the wolf whistles, maybe you need to grow a sexy beard. That's the only explanation I have. Unless - There was a large cruise ship in town. Perhaps it was full of widows.

But perhaps the most incredible mirage those girls had ever seen was the sight of Eric with his shirt off running along the road :-)

No mirage Bruce. It was just like David Hasslehoff running along the beach in Baywatch :-).
