Nice to know groomers in Finland are a bit ignorant about proper grooming too. We have the same problem here...on municipal ski courses. At paid resorts in northern Wisconsin, where you must purchase a trail pass for $15 or so, grooming for both skate and classical is beyond reproach.

Do Finns groom for both skating and classical now? Last time I skied in Sweden it was only classical.

We all just donated to buy a new snow machine for Charlie, so he could groom trails in Southern Wisconsin, near his home. Now let's see if he can avoid the 'right pole drop-off!' Did you ever get invited for sauna at Charlie's wood-fired sauna? Very nice...and authentic!

Hi Clark! Now they groom both classical and skating. Skating in the middle, and they want to maximize skating area, so that is why classical is too close to the edge if base road is too narrow. Of course in Lahti and other real ski areas there is enough room for both, but I'm happy that we have this year enough snow in the southwest corner of Finland.

Unfortunately I had never a chance to test Charlie's sauna. My US friends had also a Finnish sauna, and I have to say it was really good even in the Finland scale.
