I only ever read the Australian if I get a free copy at the airport. I wonder if that counts in their circulation figures?
The best thing that can be said about The Australian is that its digital paywall means I can't read it.
Interesting about the paywall. I wonder if the citizens of North Korea and Cuba have to pay to get access to propaganda online. I expect in those countries it gets provided for free.
^ that's dirty old socialism for you. In a free-market utopia all brain washing is to be funded by the recipient
2GB had a crack yesterday (just as well I took a bus to the airport and thus didn't risk being accidentally exposed to it in a taxi). This time they named names, something which drew a more robust response from our senior management than I've previously experienced in such situations.
The Weekend edition is ok, provided you don't bother with the columns by Kenny, Albrechtsen, Cater, Shanahans et al. As for Gerard Henderson - sheez! Van Onselen is good, and so is Nikki Gemmell in the Magazine.
I've often thought that they should swap all their political and economic columnists with their sports columnists. Gideon Haigh and Patrick Smith for example would make very entertaining and critical political commentators.
But I mainly buy the Weekend for the Review and Travel sections.
In WA you lack a defensible ex-Fairfax alternative so perhaps your purchase is vaguely understandable. ;-)
