| fletch: | When was the last time you went through a full progrssion of intervals on the flat, from 2-3 km short rest, to 1:1 to 800s, 600s, 400s, 300s???
That sure improved my speed 5 years ago (and sadly I haven't done it since) Don't recall seeing any short intervals in your log for a long time... |

| Tooms: | Actually did it in lead up to Anaconda, but did it all terrain. Went from Grass Farms to Blackboy Loop to 2ks on beach, 1ks on beach, 800s, 600s, 400s. Basiclly replicating McGillivray VO2 stuff but on the beach. Didn't do any AT sessions per se, can't do everything on one quality run a week! Was not too far off the pace on Tues night for Reabold reps, although 2.33 is still but a distant memory!!! Basically my old "moderate" is now "fFast" and the old "slow" is now a "moderate"!
You are right though, if I got back onto a fast surface and ran to an accurate Pace, I'm sure it'd help. The hammies have been a pretty strong reason to not run at the right pace though..... |

| Craig: | I told Rachel you looked as though you were just cruising around at long run pace at Lake Monger. |

| Tooms: | I must be getting fitter then. I can remember running at Wesley college with Trenchy's tri squad and doing 5 x 1000m at 3:15 on 4:30 and being told afterwards "You look like you were taking it so easy." It's hard to make legs look like they're going fast when they're 2/3 of your height! (Note, this was back in 1995).
I'm glad I didn't look like I was struggling though, means my form must be holding up under pressure, so a definite improvement. HR was over 150 for the entire course so it definnitely wasn't LSD which is around 120 usually. |
