Have to say, I'm enjoying age group competition and have gotten to know the ladies my age a lot better. Good for you, enjoy the fun!

And scouting (Anna is in a newly-established girls' troop, which means I'm helping as an assistant scoutmaster) is blending nicely with teaching orienteering, too...funny how that works...

That's great! Somehow both my wife and I got sucked into the scouting stuff. I'm a Troop Committee Chair until 2020, and she is a Pack Committee Chair for my son's Pack. Also a Merit Badge Counselor for orienteering... and it even looks like I will have a Troop or two at one of our orienteering events coming up soon if all goes well. I've enjoyed it so far and hope you have a good experience with it too. The admin side of scouts is horrible but the actual stuff to do is fun... a lot like the military, cough cough, lol.

Does this mean you all set up shop in one place again?

I'm working on m personal resources as a merit badge counselor (in conjunction with some of my coursework, making it more accessible to kids who learn in a variety of ways and navigate using different strategies). I'll share when I have that all put together.

Yeah, Jon and I are Assistant Scoutmastering...lots of work. But fun.

We're in Boston until kids get through high school (in theory). Room for a full family visit...

Cool. Oh yeah, and the PhD-ing, hope that is going well! I would definitely be interested in that merit badge coursework on nav strategies when its done, sounds great.

Just M.Ed.-ing. Repeatedly, because I can never be taught the first time. But yes, I'll be sure to share! There's a lot of stuff out there that isn't very good, although well-intentioned, and that's frustrating.
