Hey everyone,

I am new to the group. I am interested in Adventure Racing, it looks like a challenging sport and something that would help me train up for a military selection pipeline that I will be attending where Land Nav is required.

I have maps and a compass. I intend to start training on the permanent courses on the East side of the state soon. SO I was wondering, what would you all recommend to a beginner who is just starting to train? I plan on researching as well but Igor suggested that I post.

TL:DR- what do I do to begin training for Adventure Racing? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks everyone! Oh yeah, I spent 4 years in the Army so I have a little land nav experience but would like to sharpen those skills. I'm not a total newb!

Hello Grant!

Check out www.smoc-runs.com that’s the local O club that puts on meets in the fall / spring. Also the permanent courses in the area as mentioned.

www.Lostarrowsports.com is another we have a beginner 4HR AR coming up 5/4 and also the 2-4-6 race on 9/29.

www.MetroNav.org has Nitrogaine in June

www.MIadventureracing.com has a race coming up in June at Silver Lake and others as well.

Hope to see you out there!
