Are you styling your coaching look on a Bill Bowerman or Percy Cerutty maybe?
I don't think Gärderud has done much coaching aside from a few orienteering gigs but I, of course, tell the kids to look him on youtube. The only legendary coach I know of is Arthur Lydiard so I am going to go with him. In all honesty, I had to google the two names you mentioned Nev.
You had to google Bowerman?
But you've seen
this?
Lydiard coached future Orienteer Peter Snell of course.
If not Garderud then how about Roberts?
I hope you mean Wesley Roberts, former Hillfield star cross runner.
People are *always* talking about him.
Yeah Nev surprisingly yes! the very one.
I’d just tell them to line up behind the HSC Maple House runners and get mentored.
Maple guys were the worst. Just the worst.
You mean JD McCoy, right? He couldn’t run.
So Hans do you wear cool sunglasses during your coaching? That seems to be the track coach 'look' in the Hamilton area and I know how much you want people to say "He's got the look"
Pretty sure ‘the look’ is a banana costume.
Corey Hart meets Roxette.
To look like a proper track coach:
1) old hat with outdated logo from sports company (probably received for free)
2) t-shirts from road race a decade ago
3) one new article of clothing that totally stands out
4) beard or potential to grow on in a weekend
5) ability to remember how fast everyone was at 19
Nev just described himself
To be fair I can't remember anyones times, can barely remember my own.
Those hot dog hats though....
