I'm looking for a partner(s) for the World Rogaining Championships in Estonia in 2008. (My planned partner has already backed out - at least he gave me ample notice). This event won't be open for that much longer - already over 500 have registered.
My orienteering experience is relatively limited, having just discovered the sport in the past few years, so I would not expect to be the lead navigator. I would like to take this seriously but not brutally - I count on visiting the Hash House at least once! A fellow 'veteran' (40+) would be nice, but not crucial. A fellow North American would be nice so we could do a practice rogaine earlier in the year (there are several nice possibilities on the calendar in central/western New York).
This seems like great chance to visit a part of the world I probably never would otherwise, not to mention my only opportunity to compete in a World Championship of any variety. It's also a quirky story idea I am pitching to some editors.
