I thought about going to this one, since I couldn't make it to the Mid-Atlantics in Hampton as I usually do, but the timing isn't going to work out. Too bad, sounds like there are some beauties!

When I went through the main exhibit hall and saw all the great quilts that weren't Best Ofs, I knew the winners would be fantastic. They'll post winner photos once the show is over. It amazes me how quilting has changed from when I started (late '80s) until now.

Since it's AQS's 35th anniversary they have/had a special display of some best-of-show/museum quilts from Paducah, including CBF-G's Corona II, and the Beatles Quilt that won in 1999. I've had a poster of the Beatles Quilt hanging somewhere in the house since then, and had the opportunity to see it (and photograph it) up close.
:-)

I took photos of the Cherrywood quilts made for the Prince challenge. I'll have to figure out where to post them so you can see.

I hadn't heard about the Prince challenge! Going off memory, Cherrywood is from Minnesota I think so it makes sense. I love their fabric.
Cool that you used to see the Beatles quilt in person!

Ah wait, maybe that was what I saw at Mid-Atlantics a couple years ago (my FB profile pic)? Though I'm looking at the submissions and they don't look familiar. I love them though, always been a Prince fan, and of course the MN connection I love...

Yep...your profile pic was with a quilt made in Prince's memory, but not with Cherrywood fabrics.

The Cherrywood fabric challenge for 2018 had the Prince theme, thus the exhibits *this* year. I don't have the "follow through" to adhere to a challenge schedule usually (especially one surrounding fabric; tried once and that wall hanging quilt is still unfinished), but I like seeing what others come up with.

Cherrywood challenge for 2019 involves TV painter Bob Ross.

LOL that challenge doesn't excite me at all! As I'm sure Prince didn't do much for many quilters.

Bob Ross's PBS show was never one of my favorites. It'll be interesting to see what comes up in the challenge.

You should be able to see the photos I took at the show (including the Prince exhibit) on Facebook.
