Ok, I found the story on npr.org
. But, even knowing that it came out on AFD, I still believed it! It was not until I saw a follow-up story yesterday about the fun they had with it that I realized it was fake. *That* is how gullible I am!
Funny backstory...we got a notice on the morning of AFD from Mark Memmott, who is the head of Standards and Practices in the newsroom. Evidently, he was being inundated with prank story ideas for the day, and he had to let everyone know that NPR does only *one* AFD story each year, and the one for this year had been submitted and approved months ago. So, sorry Korva, but you can't pull whatever prank you are suggesting.
