The picked up pace was the result of going around on the road and not going back up and over the mountain like everyone else! :)

I was thinking of you when I was descending to the finish. It took everything I had to keep moving and try not to inflict more pain on myself. I wondered how you would manage. You definitely took the right route. It was over 1000' down - a constant pressure on my knees and my toes pressed into the front of my shoes.... Still, I really enjoyed everything else. Good to run into you out there.

Going around on the road was a good choice. Climbing up up up and back down down down over Bob's Hill was very tiring. And your route, having driven that road I know, is beautiful!
