It's fun, but I find it *really* hard work!
Classic actually. Skate looks fun but I thought to stick with the fundamentals this year. Its the whole weight transfer aspect from one side to the other especially when climbing hills and Canmore isn't flat. Just need to get out more and practice technique but finally got the first one under the belt so should be good. Tricky today too with the grip since it was pretty warm out.
Oh yeah, and those muscles I never use might be sore tomorrow.
Enjoy! It's a great workout, and you're bound to feel some muscles tomorrow. It's nice to learn classic, because it gives you more freedom to explore ungroomed trails when you're not at an XC ski centre. And then it's fun to learn to skate because it's faster if you *are* at an XC ski centre.
skate is way easier! I'm looking forward to joining you at the skate park in Calgary.
Skate skiing must use some of those blasted muscles of yours Zoo, because I find it *much* harder - in terms of physical effort, anyway. But I've been classic skiing ten times longer than I've been skate skiing, so maybe it's just that my muscles aren't used to it yet.
How many ski lessons have you had Meridian? Let me know if you're in the market for one and I'll track down some skiers down there for you.
I'm just used to the movement from years of downhill skiing, but the upper body blasting has helped quite a bit.
Interesting... I would have said that classic feels more like downhill than skate skiing does. Not that either of them feels a whole lot like downhill skiing to me. But the upper body blasting would definitely help!!
No JD. The Drake Pub and Inn. Good pub grub if you're ever in Canmore. I hear that the live music is pretty good too. Some sort of climbers hang out or something.
And I'll agree that skiing blasts the upper body. I'm soooo weak. Half to lift more Coke cans like Hammer.
Are you going to be back in town over the holidays? If so lets get together.
25th till the 4th. Email me.
