I probably couldn't have made the trip but it would have been nice to have been invited.
I was puzzled....and then I realised. You don't like Long Slow Distance. You going Saturday?
No O for me Sat. I'm going to be in Austin racing boats, I hope. The weather calls for thunderstorms and that's not a great time to be on the water.
It annoys the heck out of me that the events are on the same day. I was hoping I could run on Sat and then zip down to Austin on Sunday. However, the Austin schedule got moved around so that my races are on Sat.
Shame. You going to West Point? Probably the last race for me for a long time in the US. Good luck on Saturday. (For the race and the weather).
Alas, no. No O travel for us until the summer. Lisa will be in Tyler this Sat though.
But more importantly, what do you mean by "last race." Is it because there is not much orienteering in Telluride or are you heading back across the pond?
Bit of both. Obviously running back home. But I doubt I'll run in TX for a long time and I looked at O in CO......nearest event is almost 7 hours away. So it looks like I'll train for Imogene Pass Run (if I get in) and then 2019 Masters. After that????? Definitely doing JK and North American Champs next year.
So you're moving soon? CO has some maps that may be closer. I'd have to know where you're going based out of.
Telluride in August. But leave for UK June 2nd. If you have anything I'm interested. Please!
Let me look after this weekend.
Cheers. Good luck tomorrow.
We usually have an event in Frisco every year, which is a bit closer to Telluride than our most of our areas (but not much). I think the plan is for it to be in August this year.
Imogene is a worthwhile race to aim for. I did it a few years ago. Amazing scenery.
I looked at Frisco. It maybe too early. I've got to get the girls settled in at school. Is the area/map worth the drive?? Thanks John.
I've done IPR twice. I like the descent, but out of Ouray.......It'll be nice to acclimate before doing it for a change.
Not our greatest area (it used to be, but there's been a lot of logging due to pine beetle kill), but still better than the areas close to Denver (and much better than places near Houston like Stubblefield!).
Hahaha! As bad as Stubblefield is (and it's bad) Jordan got the best out of the place last time I was there. (Hopefully it'll be the last time I go there!)
OK, If I can, I'll make the effort to get over there. Thanks for the heads up. Good luck next weekend. I'm planning doing the JK next year as it's on my "turf".
