It was my first Kansas Champs (or Pre-Possum).
I think that was also my 3rd or 4th o-meet ever.
How many bald eagles are out at Clinton? I don't recall ever seeing one out there. That's pretty cool!
I looked at the map again--time sure flies--it was the 2001 course!!!
As long as I have been going to Clinton, there have been bald eagles there in the winter. One year, I was running along a trail, and as I approached the end of the pennisula, I scared up more than a dozen bald eagles out of the trees. One of the prettiest sights I have ever seen.
Why were you looking at animal tracks and bald eagles? Lisa always seems to come back from training to tell me about little snakes, frogs, squirrels, assorted bugs, birds, etc. Apparently, you gals aren't 100% focussed on the exercise. ;-)
Makes being outside more fun, especially on long slogs up steep hillsides. :-) I also notice flowers, mushrooms, and various other stuff...
If you go at my pace, it's easy to notice the animal tracks! And, as Janet says, slogging up hills is an especially good time to notice things
I'm still waiting for the first gal to come back and start exclaiming over the alligators they saw in the forest.
'Gators! Aren't there gators in FLO-land? (Haven't been there since '95, though, so I can't say...)
