Invention:

Every urban event you have to run with a flag which you hold out to your side as you go around a corner to alert other runners coming around the corner. #allages,all abilities,allwelcome,allsafe ;)

I can just imagine the sequence in which you two are running towards each other.

Eoghan: Which side should I go (running left)?
Rosie: Go right
Eoghan: (goes right)
Eoghan: Runs into Rosie
Rosie: No, left
