I was wondering if anybody knows about any clubs near Spokane? The only one I know of is Cascade which is a ways away. I found some terrain in Dishman Hills I thought would be interesting which is just south of the town and I think would be a good orienteering map because it is in a park area which looks like is for recreational use.

I noticed that Cascade has a race around fishtrap lake which is basically right beside it. I feel like mapping it for my own personal use (which would be like once a year), but if there is a club that would want to buy it and use it more often for events with more people then that would be a better use, and I could put a little more time into it.

Here is some of the lidar, and some of what it looks like with 2.5m contours. I think I would make it with 5m contours because as much of it is a hill it would make more sense.

Oh, my, that looks like fun.

Yes, EWOC runs events out of Spokane including a US Champs in 2010 at Moses Lake and Fishtrap as well as closer in to Spokane (Camp Sekani and Riverside Park).

They don't appear yet to have a map of Dishman Hills. You might talk to someone there about land access. http://www.ewoc.org/venues/

Having lived in Spokane for a number of years, my somewhat vague recollection is that the club has not made a Dishman map due to prohibitive permitting obstacles. In fact I have it somewhere in the fuzzy back of my mind that off-trail may not even be allowed there.
