I thought they were all about eating (and drinking) and sleeping improperly?!
Impressed you're fitting in the runs too :)

Haha well so far I've done no eating and no drinking and no sleeping! So I must be doing it wrong...
But haha thanks, my runs haven't been very impressive though!

I think the bit you're doing wrong is going to all the sessions?! And/or not sleeping theough the sessio s!

Pro conference goers go to one session a day max ;) then there's more time for eating/drinking/running.

Hahah you're right! Ok, today I'll go to just one session and bring my pillow for a nap ;)

My experience is also that North American conferences start disturbingly early in the day.

Was once leading the scheduling committee for a conference. The way things worked out, we needed to schedule one day to start 30 minutes later than the other days. I took a unilateral decision to make that day the Thursday because that was my (and Andy Hogg's) long run day.

Do North American conferences also not feed people?

Yeah sessions started at 7am and then finished at 8.30pm or so! Not sure how many people are silly enough to do all sessions though ... ;)

And there was tea and coffee and sometimes cookies, but no real food! They obviously put the $1000 registration fee to good use...

From my experience conference venues charge like wounded bulls for lunches - from memory, the last time I organised they wanted something like $50 a head, and that was 7-8 years ago.

Free beer at least?

I think there was free wine in the evenings! So that's something haha
