I've done it both ways, and I agree that W->E is best, particularly if you start by heading up the Forcan Ridge on The Saddle and hop over Sgurr na Sgine before tacking the ridge proper. That's a day for the high summer months, though, in shorts & Walshes; a bit of an undertaking in off-season gear and variable conditions!
a week or so back I was thinking of including the Forcan ridge but then saw various youtube videos of the downclimb and how big a day that would be, then thought wiser! hope the back healing up.
Aye, it's a big day! The Saddle is a fantastic hill, and well worth taking the day to savour on its own or with Sgurr na Sgine, anyway, rather than have to fleet-foot it off to the ridge. I don't particularly remember the downclimb to SnS, so, it can't have been THAT bad. And I did it in T-shirt, shorts, & runners. Mind you, I did the Inn Pin that way too - some folks are just plain daft ;-).
Getting there with my back, thanks!
