Is this where the Black Saturday fires went through or nearby in Jackass Flat? I've been helping with a fire protection plan for this area, which involves works similar to the ones you have described. I knew this was going to upset some O maps. Sorry about that.
Yes, its the area the fires went through. Fire planning works are inevitable. I just timed my event wrongly. So what is going to happen besides track upgrades and veg munching?
Nothing. I think that's it. The community don't want burning and nothing is planned, although this might need to happen in the future. BTW, the mulcher is supposed to be really gentle on the land and has rubber tyres.
Surprised no mulching then north of Watkins Street. Pretty thick regrowth there. And most of the houses on Albert St bordering it were burnt in 2009.
They may not have got there yet. I haven't got the actual works plan so can't check.
Can we have a loan of that mulcher, there's a bit of work for it over here. They do work on 45deg slopes don't they?
Gruver. The reason for thick green on 45 degree slopes is so that thoughtless course setters don't put controls in such places. I think Prue should keep such machinery well away from the likes of you....
I am not actually in charge of the mulching machine but am speaking on Tuesday to the person who is. I happen to know that he will take his mulching machine anywhere, provided he is paid.
Does it float?
(across the Tasman)
Why, is there green stuff in the Tasman?
Neil - MY munching machine is supposedly north of Watkins St as we speak. The area is also now scheduled for a burn. A number of burns are now proposed in that area, but they need to go through the Fire Operations Planning process first.
Thanks. Will check this out in the next day or so.
