I'm a little envious - had hoped to have time for visiting Austrian Alps last year (but the Italian Dolomites were pretty good consolation!).

Not until the 30th (the day you come back). I love everywhere in the alps - Dolomites might actually be my favourite. However this is my first summer trip, so its going to be a shock seeing all those people!

And grass and flowers. And cows with bells (not just in barns).

Cows with bells, and a cowherd sitting eating his lunch on a rock above them with his 3 dogs alongside... http://www.attackpoint.org/viewlog.jsp/user_4922/p...
I believe Stefano and his friends to be very fond of travelling the iron walkways.

Ahh. Sounds absolutely gorgeous. I love your description of the high fields and flowers.

Seriously, its absolutely delightful on the via ferrata, and there are some easy ones which are basically walking along ledges. Best scenery in the mountains other than rock climbing. Bus up to Passa Falzarego from Cortina. Cable car to Rifugio Lagazuoi, don head lamp and wander the kilometre WW1 tunnel back down the mountain, take the walking track below peaks, then the easy via ferrata Sentereo Astaldi, have a beer on the commodious balcony at the Rifugio at the other end, then two cable cars back down the valley. Stupendous day out.

Then there is ferrata dibona, another brilliant day out if you do the full circuit. Relics of First World War all along it. Its the Italian Gallipoli.

None come anywhere near rock climbing.

Good via terrata in New Zealand. You have to take your own beer tho.

The snow’s unusually low at the moment for this late in the season, so there might still be some around in July in places where it wouldn’t usually be.
