Do you have any idea of the number of people bitten by snakes while orienteering in Australia?

None, they only get bitten when taking photos of orienteers (or rogainers).

Wrong answer.

I’m only aware of two in competition, one in the ACT in the late 1970s and one in Victoria in 1997. Neither involved serious injury. There was a nasty one (involving a sometime APer) in rogaining in SA about 10 years ago.

Another one to add- today in qld. Not sure of the type of snake or the status at the moment. But it sounds like she'll be ok.

Mason Eves has seen a snake while orienteering, but that is about it that I know of.

Seen a few setting and mapping but never competing, maybe a different focus in a race
