While my brain is telling me that salt, sugar, caffeine and water are all good, I am trying not to hurl just thinking about your drink combo
To be clear although I did consider mixing the two I decided it was best not to try it. I've known for a long time that pickle juice was a winner for endurance (pretty sure it was the inspiration for gatorade?) but I've never drank it straight before. LOVED it.

I do that all the time - it's amazing. Only thing clinically proven to stop and prevent cramping.
Vinegar has to have something to do with it. Someone gave me mustard packets once when I was desperate with cramps. Downed about 4 of them and it might have been psychosomatic, but it worked
I love the stuff, but I've never taken it during a race. Maybe I'll carry a jar of pickles this weekend...

Cliff and Kate had a whole jar of pickles in their resupply bag at the Two Rivers this year!
So now I have to know, did they consume the entire jar of pickles AND juice?
I only saw Cliff eat a few pickles out of it, but he or Kate can chime in with details :)
Just seeing this.... yeah I spilled the pickle juice at 2Rivers. Cliff was pissed. He loves that stuff. One of the first times I hung out with him he chugged some in front of me. There was alcohol involved. And I thought it was just to win my affection - turns out he just freaking loves pickle juice.
Considering you guys got married I'm not sure if I should question his judgement in chugging pickle juice to get you to like him, or question yours since it apparently worked?
It is really really good though.
I think it's fair to question each of our judgments.
But half-sour pickles are my jam.
