Yes there are days when wind and temp gradient combine to eliminate the fog...for a while. I'll bet you can still see a bank of fog out over the Pacific this afternoon. Whenever we had a fog-less day when I was growing up, it was like a special gift from the Heavens!...spent the whole day outside, just marveling at the sunshine!
Yes, all weather in SF is "local". So "no fog" only means not from my vantage, in particular, on Twin Peaks and from eastern half of GGP. As mentioned earlier, especially on bike rides, I was ready for cold-foggy, hot-sunny alternately and mostly windy. And lots of interesting routes.
