Discussion: Orienteering Maps Book

A while ago OUSA was contacted by Damien Clouzeau about including the Surebridge map in a book he was producing of 50 iconic orienteering maps. The map is in the book and the book is now available. BUT...orders must be in by July 10! (So sorry for the late notice - I misunderstood the email I received.)

I think the concept is good; but the execution needs help. M. Clouzeau needs a good English editor. Because I'm not confident that after paying US $75.00 or so, I'll know much about these artistic creations. I mean, on the promotional page, what does this mean?:

....besides, if you want, you are challenged to find, for each map, three extracts from the whole of its details. Good luck!....

Moreover, with these 50 maps, has someone written a bit of history and topographical explanation why it was included, as opposed to Lake George, Hawn, or Camp Ripley? Have mappers and field checkers been fully credited? Are there 'locator maps' that will enable an orienteer to actually get to the terrain...and recognize it when he does?

I don't mind an excuse to visit Pawtuckaway, but...
