Good running into you and Richard. I swear I run to someone I know whenever I'm in town.
We went up to the Neil Colgan Hut for an overnight on Tuesday for some alpine climbing and glacier adventure. Unfortunately the weather was warm, soft, and a mixed bag of Rockies weather so we didn't attempt Mt Fay since we were punching through the snow. Ended up finding a cravasse in the process which was not confidence inspiring.
Back on the coast now. You might have to come this way to use that Norvan jacket ;) Also I use to work with H & T during my big oil days (had to double check that photo)
Such a small world! We ran with them again today.
Sorry to hear about the weather issues on your climbing trip. Glad you stayed safe.
It was great to see you and catch up a little. P.S. Your glasses are awesome. :)
Thanks \O-O/. Also sounds like you met Fitzy too...really small world!
It was a good experience, little about knowing when to pack it in when conditions are not ideal in the Mtns. Apparently its like June conditions on the glacier where things aren't consolidate yet - it needs a solid refreeze. Fay glacier is one of the most fractured ones in the range so not to be messed with. I punched through up to my waist one one legs and when I pulled up looked down and didn't see the bottom. Spooky. The hut is really cool - highest one in Canada.
Rounded it out in K-Country climbing up Mt Kidd though. Classic Rockies choss making sure you don't pull or drop rocks on your partners - sometimes I wonder why I got into this sport! Beautiful limestone despite managing hazards though. Totally miss the Rockies already.
Sounds like an amazing, challenging trip. I guess you don't miss Hamilton Mountain, lol!
Good to see you Norvan. I chatted quit a bit with Fitzy and Adam on our last run. Nice guys!
