Tomorrow's middle distance race is taking place in the hottest part of the day and it's supposed to be 29 degrees feeling like 41.

We are reminding everyone to bring lots of water (with lots of ice) and take precautions, especially if you know you are prone to issues in the heat. We are making sure we have extra water at the start, finish and on course and will have freezies at the finish for racers.

There is a small splash pad in the park in the arena.

The forecast is also calling for thunderstorms but those should be later in the day after the race.

Congrats everyone who made it (and that splash pad was awesome). This was the 3rd muggiest day in Ottawa's history:

Dewpoints around 25-26 are certainly impressive for such a high latitude: a 33/25 combination is genuinely tropical.

3 of the top 10 humidex days on record in Ottawa have happened in last 13 months

Did the competitors get the wax right for the race?

Glad you saw this Blair, I was thinking of you and your love of weather extremes and orienteering. It was indeed hot, but that is my expectation of o-events in the summer. Always super hot and so only the toughest win!

Freezies at the finish Saturday was pure genius

Freezies at the finish? Did anyone else get that freezing feeling in the brain like I did? I loved the freezie but I hate that instant-headache feeling!
