Am in your excellent country for the third year in a row, this time for Fin5 at Rautavaara and Tahkovuori, northeast of Kuopia (following WMOC in Latvia). (BTW, it’s interesting to me that Finnish has a separate word for each of the 8 points of the compass, e.g. northeast is a completely different word than north or east.) And while here, we passed by two villages named Salmenkylä, one southwest of Nurmes, one southeast of Jyväskylä.
Clearly worth it if you keep coming back but I bet you don't like all the rain either..?? ;)
Don't worry, the Finnish language can surprise you in many ways you don't even know yet so keep learning. And to add to those villages, I believe there is one close to Hamina and another one just 40km north from Helsinki. For sure there's more but these are the ones I'm aware of. Somehow tho, only approx 40 of us Finns are blessed to carry that name.
