We're part of the (Kansas) Sunflower State Games. I'm jealous that you can have real courses. This time of year, we can only do sprints on a campus or open park (the woods are too thick). It's fun to do this event, people like the T-shirts and real awards. We get good participation here. How it received in RMOC?

I'm not a huge fan of our State Games association, to be honest... The registration fee is $25-30 instead of our usual $8-$15, and that really limits participation from many of our regulars. So we do all the same work of a regular meet for lower attendance.

Also, we have to use their pre-reg system, so participants can't see who else is registered on each course (that view is not offered, like it usually is on RMOC's site). And, onsite registration requires a ton of extra paperwork.

Bah humbug. ;-)

Interesting similarities and differences. We also have to use their registration system and higher fees. But we get better attendance than usual (die hard regulars and lots of newbies who love the Games). And we never know who is coming to our events, so no issue with that. The only people we miss are the semi-regular folks. But they tend to skip the summer sprints any way.
The big draw for us seems to be the overall atmosphere; and the medals.
Maybe it also helps that we only offer two courses. Much less organizational work.

Yeah, we do get some new faces; not many of them come back to our other local meets, though... To sound less like a grinch: the medals are definitely fun. :-)
