Apparently they move very very quickly. :-)
First heard the phrase a couple of days ago. Gail and I have been watching some of the coverage of the Tour de France, tape it, then can skip all the ads and a bunch of the coverage too, just watch selected parts. This was towards the end of a stage, one last sharp little up just before the finish, and out of Phil's mouth came the words "oh my, he's flying up that hill like a scorched rabbit."
Now, a lot of strange things come out of Phil's mouth these days. He's getting on in years, and fairly often he will say things that are a bit odd, and you wonder if that was what he meant to say. As was certainly true in this case.
So I hit rewind, and we played it again, and yup, he said that. Who knows what he meant to say. But the rider in question sure was going fast.
And Gail and I just kept laughing.
Don't Google it. Trust me on this one. Just don't. Unless you put the whole phrase in quotes.
Although the phrase does appear to be over 100 years old
And Australian of course!
