Climbed BM as a child but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have headed out along the ridge if there wasn't an extra Munro back in the '70s...
I think the mountain in question isn't a recent appearance geologically speaking ;-)
Stob na Broige was promoted in 1997 according to my book. The second summit on Buachaille Etive Beag was promoted at the same time. For some reason my mum's upset that she has been up the old Munro but not the new one - just sounds like an excuse for a trip to Glen Coe to me!
Stob na Breiige is pretty easy from BEM, just follow the ridge south. Nice going and a trod all hte way - lovely descent from the col to the glen to the west and a short trot back from there. You can also cut direct from SnB to south top of BEB, but its a bit steep and broken in places...
