How old is he now? I'm ready to through E in a kayak already, but I don't think she is! :D

I suspect you are a lot more comfortable in a kayak than I am, which would make a difference! Lukas just turned four and it was really no problem, especially in the big, stable one we were in. I think he would have been pretty chill about it much earlier.

We have loved putting the kiddos in 'yaks, although we didn't get much help paddling until they got much older. Pete's just getting to that point now, actually. Tandems are perfect for such an adventure, though. Sounds like you had a grand adventure!

Amber, did you ever see our big yellow kayak when we were in DC? Seats two adults, with an optional 3rd seat in the middle for a kid? We nicknamed it the Concrete Canoe since it had such a large, open seating area and handled like, well, a concrete canoe. But once we had Anna out in her own boat, we could go with either 2 or 3 in the yellow one, which made family outings much easier.

And kayak orienteering fairly hysterical, come to think of it.

Great photo, can't believe it's been 4 years already!
Haven't seen the Concrete Canoe cmpbllv, but a friend here has something similar I think... While I'm looking forward to all that I'll just have to enjoy where we're at for now - wouldn't want her first time to roll to be when she's in the kayak :)
