Both from the alps and the town. The French/Swiss/Italian alpine towns are charming with a great atmosphere.
My wife and I had some "alpine moments" earlier this summer when we kind of stumbled onto the French 5-day orienteering event. We "ran" at an elevation of 2200 m on one of the days. And of course had lots of coffee and baked goods in the small towns :)
Hope your minor (?) injury gets well enough so you can at least start.
Pictures are amazing. Knee news less so. Heal fast! (It is a beautiful place for recouperating but....)
I caught the wrong train once and ended up in Italy instead of Solvenia - the spaghetti in the random train station I got out at was some of the best I've ever had.
Also, great pics. It's so great when you get even a half hour of cloudlessness that high up.
