This one hung around a bit to listen, while slowly backing away from me up its tree...

Chat to a squirrel vs chat with a squirrel... I would have expected the second, but I guess the first makes more sense.

Well sometimes they squeak back, but they're probably just screaming "back the **** away from my nuts!!"

Sheep are much better listeners.

I once had a squirrel scream and drop a nut on me when I tried to make conversation.. I think I’d disturbed it digging up its nut stash at the bottom of the tree and it was a bit pissed off.

I actually first read this thread as being "squirrel squats".
If that had been the case you could also have logged some time for that ;) (however those would be done).

Ness, that is the funniest thing I have heard today! Thanks :) Although a bit stupid that it didn't find a non-nut object to throw at you!

Bubo - surely squirrel squats would go on the squirrel's AP log though, not mine?

...unless you do the squats with the squirrel on your shoulders...

I don't like to think how many nuts I'd have to hide in my hair to make that happen.

...unless...do squirrels eat deer flies?!
