Mr Wonderful:
Between xc skiing and orienteering and rogaines, we've been there a few times, and that creek may have killed one of BNM's phones a while back...deeper than it initially looks!

Yes, it is! I'd heard there would be a waist-deep swamp (not really true) so my phone was in a dry bag and my hydration mouthpiece was high on my chest. When I arrived at the creek, runners were waiting in line on the right side of the crossing so they could scramble across on top of some logs or branches. I didn't look closely because the left side of the crossing was wide open and had a huge log as a handrail. Why would anyone wait? My first step in was waist deep, and the other runners laughed. Then I took a few more steps in shallower water and ran off into the mud, which never got more than knee deep. I'm not sure if they were trying to keep their feet dry? If so, that was their last chance for the next half kilometre!

It certainly is a beautiful area. You guys are fortunate. :)

I think all newbies get ‘This Sucks’ on their first trip to DWD... sounds like it’s exactly the same as when I did it.

Lol! My assignment changed at bedtime the night before the race. I commented to the team captain that if she wanted to be strategic, she should assign me the lowest number of miles. (I was originally given the highest number of miles since I run longer distances than the others, but I knew I was the slowest runner on the team.) So because I'd opened my big mouth, I was assigned to 'This Sucks' at the last minute. I'm glad though. I wish I'd had more swamp to run through.
