There's an orienteering map of Pinckney, and SMOC had some national events there back in the day (maybe even something like Intercollegiates? I'm not sure.) We wore costumes too. ;-) (Well, o' clothes in those days looked like pajamas so ...)

I've heard of Dances with Dirt for ages. Sounds like a really fun race!

It sounds like SMOC is still offering some fun events on that map. Maybe there are fewer pyjamas now. :)

Although I had a great team, I think I would only consider doing this race again on a team of masters women so we could have a large handicap. My young teammates were friendly and positive but I wasn't any substitute for the varsity athlete who was supposed to race with them!

We still have a few pajamas, although numbers dwindle there.

I've done three Nitrogaines in Pinckney (8 hr overnight rogaine). Dogman #2 is this year (now 24 hours, also using adjacent Waterloo). SMOC averages two meets a year in Pinckney, and now generally with the new 5 m lidar instead of the old 3 m pre lidar. The super is really great to work with, which helps with all of this.

From what I recall of the area, I'd be happy to race there again! Cool terrain.

There was talk of brushing the new version up to standards and trying to get it ready for something, although we have low bandwidth for field checking these days. :(
