Any final results from the NA Rogaine Champs?
To the best of my knowledge they were sent out by email but haven't been posted on the official page. Here's the link for the 24hr from the email: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZwxFqVW8EJ...
That's it? 21 teams? 45 people?
Is that disappointing or normal?
But how about that team of over 65 men finishing second overall? They must be a pair of super fit old guys. What is their story?
The attendance could be considered as a bit disappointing and not completely abnormal. There were quite a few additional additional people that showed up for the 8 and 4 hour categories that made the event look a little more occupied on Saturday morning. Too bad that more people didn't show up for the event, since it was in beautiful terrain with a well-set course, fine weather, and a fine full moon to add some pleasure to the night-time navigation.
The two guys in second place were a pair of Australians who were taking the long way home from the WRC in Spain last July, stopping off in California for a few weeks as event consultants/advisors to visit and check locations for all the controls for the 2020 World Rogaining Championships near Lake Tahoe, and to make suggestions about other aspects of the advance preparations for that event. Having completed that task, they were doing a bit of recreation at this event before continuing back to Australia They do have a moderate amount of prior experience, having completed over 100 24-hour rogaines together as a team, in addition to several others with different partners.
So more experience in 24 hour rogaines than the rest of the field put together? Good on them. Thanks for the response.
Well, not really. And we beat them in Spain.
And we were only one point behind them. But they came in at 7 AM, no doubt to have a relaxed breakfast. Had they stayed out until noon, they might have won it all.
Is the map available anywhere? It would be nice to see it.
They said they were pretty well pooped when they quit. But yes, they had been on track to win the division.
