I feel like “hilly” is a bit of an understatement. It’s on my list of places I won’t go back to because it’s unpleasantly steep. Twisted my ankle horribly there once.

I don't remember the last time orienteering was there. I do remember it beat me up.

Yep, like Steve, I also used to go there to do hill runs. Then I switched to Ellison Wetlands because there are plenty of hills there, but they didn't seem as brutal as A. Lincoln ones. Now even Ellison Wetlands seems too intimidating. The joys of getting older!

I no longer live close to get it in, but I also like a route along the wetlands. It's not specifically a hill run, but is a great trail. [In at the parking lot, through, and along the creek to Old Browncroft]

Except for somebody putting up "private property" signs at a choke-point by Empire, you can go the entire distance on the other side of the creek as well - through Tryon park and county land.

I have previously described the trailhead off browncroft as a secret trail...

A typical run for me back in the day was to park at Empire, run the trails up to the "secret" trailhead at Old Browncroft, and back. I think it was 5 miles round trip with a generous amount of climb.
