Hi - I spent two weeks in the F-jura after the Swiss O week - I didn't find any O to do there, it was a dedicated rock climbing fortnight, the rock climbing there is some of the best anywhere, literally thousands of routes. Paradise. The rock formations are incredible.

What are you up to there? :-)

Swiss Franconia, if that's the same place? It did look good climbing, saw a few people on some of the boulders... Loads of forest and lots of it looked pretty good with all the rocks, but hardly anything seems to be mapped!

Just visiting my sister near Nuremberg, seemed like a nice idea to make a round trip after Basel :-)

Yep that's the place - the "Frankische Schweiz" north of Nuremberg - I did wonder about O maps / events in August there, but found nothing, despite Nick Barrable emailing a local club for me. So I just ran through the trees on the rainy days! Most of the best climbing is roped, with bolts, but pretty pumpy & run out. Utter quality...!

I do wonder if there's O there, as so much woodland. Does your sister orienteer?

Yes she has had kind of the same experience, being a bit more casual orienteer than me but still wanting to get out and do a bit on some weekends. Even the forest right next to the city seemed really nice, especially by UK standards, but i guess it needs an orienteering population to make it worth mapping. Seems more to the north, round Dresden, and not too far from Czech border either if they get desperate though. Hopefully will get a chance to explore more round there, maybe even take my own climbing stuff next time!
