WBRC TV in Alabama recently interviewed Anne Matthews of Vulcan O Club and a rep from the World Games 2021.

Sorry, couldn't watch it after two or three references to "It's a real sport..."

Completely understandable statement when you consider how crazy what we do must seem to the average person.

I got a good chuckle out of it. Thanks for the coverage!

Pretty good segment, actually. Nice that they included some actual racing footage. And the World Games guy seemed informed, which is nice too.

Good segment. Nice to see the local area is getting interested in the World Games. But advice to orienteering clubs who may get similar opportunities to be guests on local TV shows and get your 3-5 minutes of fame: Be sure you are grabbing the opportunity to 'close the sale'. Whatever the reason to be invited on the show you will probably want to spike local interest in trying orienteering. Get the station to display a graphic about how the locals can try orienteering for themselves. Mention that your next event is open to all. Get them to put local contact information and schedule on their website and mention it on the program. TV stations love to bring people to their websites as that helps build that stream of advertising revenue.
Yes,TV is an older audience but older people like to do things too.
