His AP readership is probably trying to figure out what the Homebush reference is to (I have no idea and I'm in the same country, albeit on the other side of it).

I got that one because I'm married to a boy from NSW where they play some weird game which involves headbutting people while carrying a ball, and they call that footy even though it's not AFL...apparently the NRL grand final last night involved a contentious refereeing decision which may or may not have resulted in the non-Canberran team winning.

Oh yeah, forgot that was on, though I did watch a couple of seconds of it when I was flicking through channels yesterday (not being able to exercise is boring). Being on the other (AFL-centric) side of the country would of course mean the reference went right over my head. When one of your main news stations uses every opportunity to squeeze an AFL related article into every single newsbreak, it's hard to remember there are other sports in this country.

I had been expecting it the previous weekend the day after the AFL GF but seems it was moved, possibly to avoid having two major GFs on the same weekend?
