I was there but still get teary reading about it. Such a huge accomplishment!
So great to have you guys there with us. Thanks for taking some great photos at the finish, which I've "borrowed" for the report. :)
Congrats again Barb. So happy to see you accomplish this goal so many years after you first started on it.
Thanks for the great writeup! What an ending to the adventure!
Loved the pictures and write up.
Those pictures! What a wonderful report of an amazing accomplishment.
I had to go through it twice.
Three times is the way to go
Yup, third time's the charm! (Even if I couldn't do the whole loop in one go.)
Thanks to all for reading my novel - twice in Veinbuster's case. These reports are mostly for me since the memories fade over time if I don't write them down but it's fun to share them with friends too. :)
So thrilling that you got to see the whole loop and the finish line! Thanks for the great write up and beautiful photos ( and fun stories along the way.... glad you didn’t break your throw up record ).
Ugh - the climb up to La Tête aux Vents.
The view from La Tête aux Vents - ooh la la!
When I was out there, I thought of you and your amazing UTMB finish so soon after Western States - and so soon after deciding, "Hey, maybe I'll give a couple of these 100 milers a whirl!" :)
Great write up Bash. I got all choked up. Such persistence. Makes me wanna go back too and finish that loop.
Congratulations! Such a great story with the years building up to your finish. Amazing perseverance. Bravo!
@Bash: and when I was out there on my 100-milers I thought of you and how all of this torture was your fault, for planting this seed in our minds!
Seriously, you know the chain of how your UTMB goal sparked our ultra running goals, which led to so many amazing experiences, lots of increased running fitness (that I think helped with a Wilderness Traverse race...), and an amazing community of trail running friends.
Ahaha, I love that I tortured you. :) But hey, that's all very cool! Cathy Gallagher gets the credit for sparking my interest in UTMB so you can blame/credit her too.
Speaking of credit, there is no way I could have finished CCC without our week at Canmore Camp in July. That was the best training I did all year. Thank you for helping out as one of our camp counsellors. :)
@Ang, I hope you do go back! It's fun to do the second half of the loop with more energy than you can ever have in UTMB.
