Thanks Jenny - everything was perfect. The casket had an image of Lord Howe Island, the handout a segment of a map he'd done (to keep the orienteers busy!), the music was absolutely spot on and almost 150 came - including the "boy" who was an exchange student with him in 1966. Seen him only once since then - in NZ where he lived - NYE 1975. Amazed! The Wake now to plan - much more rockman's style. Yesterday would have been too much focus on him for his liking.

The Wake - trying to guess what might have been Russell's favourite beverage because I presume it might feature prominently...

Fav was cider which we were lucky enough to find several Aus champs venues with nearby cideries - and therein come across LostRichard and fizzyred. But we'll be saving them for his birthday in December.

Nice. We took pear cider to my grandfather in the cemetery on his hundredth birthday - he liked perry long before it was fashionable!
And now The Hills Cider Company has set up its cellar door & restaurant on the land which used to be his dairy farm (he sold it to an apple orchardist):

BTW, Bilpin Pink Lady is my favourite cider.

You will often will find me in a cidery, winery, brewery, gin palace ...

Indeed we did.
Henry of Harcourt was a particular favourite of ours. Just went and checked my supplies - some cider for rockman's birthday, but discovered a case of wine we bought last year at Sculpture in the Vines around Wolllombi. We used to have a glass at the Vineyard (Stoneyhurst) before we kicked off the tour then finished the bottle at Nobbys Beach with prawn rolls as the sun set. Well there's a day all laid out for me in November.
