Altho you live up there on Skyline, surrounded by big trees I imagine, I don't see any posted electric shut-offs planned for Los Gatos. Wonder why? Hope that is in fact the case...especially with you hobbling around with a sore leg! Hope that clears up quickly.

Yes, we are surrounded by trees, and we were indeed notified that power would be shut off. Fortunately, the power is off for only 24 hours (and we have a generator).

Sore leg was just what happens during old age ;-) Always something not quite right at this point.

Nice that you had the foresight to buy a generator. Did it start up and keep your refrigerator cold?

Haha, foresight indeed. We lived up there for 25 years before finally getting one three years ago.

It starts automatically when the power goes out, and runs the entire house. Of course, it eats up propane, so you can't keep it going for too long. They said it might take five days for the power to be restored, and we didn't have enough propane for that, so we turned it off for a while in the afternoon, and turned it off before going to bed, and then the power came back soon after that.
