I hope you get a lot more mileage out of the new one.
Single chaining is the way.
Doesn't seem like a lot of mileage - an MTB is going to get more of a hammering than a road bike but my road bike's done just over 20,000 miles since 2013 although it's a Trigger's broom, only the frame, bars, stem, one brake and half the rear derailleur are original.
My trusty old Spark 35 MTB is called Trigger's Broom
That doesn't seem a lot of mileage - my old MTB (specialized rockhopper) did well over 1000 hours between 2008 & 2017
