Also, if Atlanta wins tonight, then the Sounders would host the MLS Cup should they beat LA?
Atlanta had more points than we did, so we would go there, but we would host either Toronto or Philadelphia.
I'll be out of town the weekend of the final, so I'm secretly terrified of the possibility that we host and I have to miss it - a possibility that is growing but still remote.
Congrats! And now the big game is tonight!
(And 2016 re-match)
We fight! We attack! Our (former) mayor smokes crack!
The rubber match!! Gentleman's wager, losing team buys the libations at NAOC next year?
Tickets sold out this morning in a few minutes, stadium's gonna be rocking!
Klepper and I will consult this weekend.
I love convivial libations.
A sound beating.
According to the ESPN postgame, you'd have thought that Toronto won the watch. They chalked up the Sounders win as a fluke, pretty much.
ESPN is famous for their disrespect of Toronto. Wait, nevermind.
Ya - I didn’t watch the game.
Saw the score...but didn’t tune in to any highlights.
Had a second hand (and I guess inaccurate) account of how the game went - describing Seattle as dominant throughout.
Sounds like TFC dominated instead.
Thanks for pointing that out!
Three of my in-laws were at the game, and I watched the 2nd half with the rest of the in-laws (I was doing some home improvement that took longer than expected which is why I missed the first half).
Anyway, by all accounts, Toronto dominated the first half, but had nothing to show for it. It wasn't really until the own goal in the 57th that picked up the Sounders and the fans. For the next 30 minutes Seattle took advantage.
Basically, Toronto played better for 2/3 of the game. But, in low-scoring sports, the better team for most of the game doesn't always win.
