Or just hiking for fun? That was a long one on a not very friendly day.
Well of course I'm hiking for fun in the windy, 20 degree slush! Isn't that the kind of thing we folk do? :) But seriously, yes, I do have a goal in mind. I would like to do a "fast" (5-6ish days?) hike of the Ozark trail. I believe it's 230 mi. for the main contiguous section. I don't know if my body will tolerate that kind of daily mileage w/ a pack or if I can even manage to put in the training/scouting time, but I'm going to at least try to answer those questions this winter. So far, I'm doing OK getting in some long sessions, but need significant improvement in daily training activities (i.e. not get so easily distracted by life). We'll see!
awesome goal!! let us know if you need training buddies!!
aren't you the one that did the circumnavigation of mt. rainier? 'we'll see'... I do believe we will indeed!
That's so cool! Chuck Vohsen and Alane Wolins have been section hiking the OT over the past year and have many of the sections done, so I'm sure they could give you some good intel on the trail.
:) Yes, I'm on their FB group and am planning to join them for the Current River section in mid-Dec. so will definitely gather intel then.
Training buddies would be amazing!! I will try to plan a long session in advance to make that happen.
