Welcome (officially) to the world of parkrun. Quite a lovely family, but sometimes I find it really difficult to get motivated at 6:30 Saturday morning in the dark and cold. Just put my name down to volunteer on NYD. We have a coordinated group here so I can run at 8 on the flat course and volunteer at 9:30 at The Beaches. Ticks quite a few boxes for me.

Well done TT. I enjoyed it too. Quite a positive experience - l was 15/29 women and 1st in my age group (and older age groups too). There were a few people l knew, including an AWOC orienteer. But, as you say, just so early!

Just for clarification - the 6:30 is because I have to eat something before I go. I used to do a depletion run (ie no eating before and not for an hour afterwards) but had some not encouraging side effects so back to small meal beforehand.

I'm the opposite. I feel really weighed down if l eat before l run. But l always eat afterwards. There was something on Catalyst about when you should eat in relation to exercise - and the was a difference between eating times for men and women, but l can't remember what.

It is dependent on purpose. Losing weight - eat afterwards. I feel weighed down too hence the 90 min start.
