Yeah, I've seen folks go down on both the last corner and the exit from the road. If I'm really trying to hammer it home on the final turn, I'll step just inside the path and use the lip of the pavement to push off on. I just straight-line the Z-bend from the road to the bike path. They can sue me for cutting the course; two 120-degree turns in 10 meters is stupid.
those sound like good moves. I also pretend the finish is at the first turn, and do the full sprint on the straightaway, assuming that running fast where its easier will gain more than time lost running slower in the difficult section.
