Not the only critter encounter of the day. Back home in the evening, the wood stove was putting out a lot of heat and Rhonda opened a window. Seizing the opportunity, a junco infiltrated and started flying around, perching here and there, bouncing off the windows, while the four of us were running around opening doors and windows trying to coax it out, or trying to throw a towel over it to expel it. It was having none of it, enjoying his time indoors, perching here and there, until the fatal mistake. He dropped down to the floor and within an instant there was an explosion of feathers. Moe had been watching the whole thing, calmly waiting for his moment, very efficient at just the right moment. And then we took the poor fellow away from a very satisfied cat and tossed it in the yard. A sad moment for the humans.

The junco showed up at the dining table in time for dessert. Unfortunately, a few seconds later it became the dessert.
