Great article. Surely they would have come across orienteering while exploring similar research around the world. There must be relevant research done in the Nordic countries. If not, someone in the States should write to them and awaken them to orienteering. Seems like our sport would be an ideal choice for the further clinical trials suggested in the last paragraph.

Sweden have published some studies comparing various groups of elderly people, with the orienteers being the positive outlier, even among the physically active groups.

The SciAm article could easily have been titled "Why your brain needs orienteering". :-)
